I’ve said this throughout my blog, but my family loves books. Story time is a big deal in hour household. One of my favorite things as a preschool teacher was story time. I get into it just as much as my kids do. After reading the same stories over and over, I finally started exploring our local library. These are some new family favorites we found, that are just fun and entertaining reads for story time.
Pine & Boof Blast Off!
Pine & Boof Blast Off! written and illustrated by Ross Burach. Boof the bear and Pine the porcupine find themselves on a stellar adventure when they discover a space egg and set off to return it. These woodland creatures create a spacecraft, prepare for space travel, and blast off into outer space…or so they think. This is a great story about friendship and celebrates each character’s individual gifts. Pine & Boof Blast Off! is a creative and entertaining children’s book, that the whole family will enjoy.
I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato
I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato written and illustrated by Lauren Child is a wonderful book about dinner time and picky eaters. The story follows a little girl, Lola, as her older brother, Charlie, tries to convince her to eat her dinner. Lola has a long list of things she refuses to eat. With a little imagination and creativity, Charlie convinces Lola to try everything he puts in front of her, including tomatoes. This book is a great way to get your kids talking about healthy foods and good eating habits.
My Teacher Is a Monster!
My Teacher Is a Monster! written and illustrated by Peter Brown follows a young boy named Bobby, and his monstrous teacher. One Saturday, Bobby runs into his teacher at his favorite park. Neither one are thrilled. After spending time together, Bobby realizes that his teacher is less of a monster than he thought. I really had fun reading this book. It has a dry sense of humor that both parents and kids will enjoy.
Capybara Is Friends With Everyone
Capybara Is Friends With Everyone written and illustrated by Maddie Frost follows Capybara, and how he goes above and beyond for all 4,382 of his friends. He spends his days doing everything he can for his friends. One day he meets someone new and runs himself ragged trying to be their friend. Capybara learns that his friends like him for who he is, and sometimes that means doing a little less for his now 4,383 friends.
These are some awesome children’s book that my family enjoyed and I’m hoping yours will too.
