One of my favorite things to do with my kids is read to them. Bedtime consists of a least two or three stories. I don’t know who gets more excited about discovering new books, my kids or me. Here are five books we’ve been really excited about lately.
Dragons Love Tacos
Dragons Love Tacos, by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri. My son was gifted this book last Christmas by his uncle. This has quickly become a family favorite. This book will tell you all about dragons’ love for tacos and how to throw a great dragon taco party. Both kids and parents will enjoy this funny and clever book.
Grumpy Monkey
Grumpy Monkey, by Suzzanne Lang and illustrated by Max Lang. This was another great book that was gifted to us. I love books that teach children about their emotions. Sometimes you’ll have days where you’re just irritated and nothing seems quite right. Jim Panzee just feels upset no matter how hard his jungle friends try to cheer him up.
T Is For Turbo ABC Book
T Is For Turbo ABC Book, by Michael J. Myers and illustrated by Richard A. Wright takes a creative spin on the alphabet. They use car parts to go through the ABCs and explain how each part works in the car. I can say I actually learned a bit more about my own car from this children’s book.
Old MacDonald Had a Dragon
Old MacDonald Had a Dragon, by Ken Baker and illustrated by Christopher Santoro is a hilarious retelling of an old classic. Read how a dragon turns Old MacDonald’s farm upside down. It’s a funny read the whole family will enjoy.
The Pigeon Has To Go To School
The Pigeon Has to Go to School, by Mo Willems is a fantastic book, especially if you have a little one transitioning into school. The pigeon is about to start school and he’s a little apprehensive to say the least. Starting school is a very big change, and what I love about this book is that it explores a lot of the questions and fears that a child might have. It’s okay to be a little scared and overwhelmed. It’s a big step.
These are some great family favorites of ours, that I’m sure you and your kids will love.
