Here are four items that I always have on hand in my kitchen that help me make things a little more fun and easy. These are four relatively inexpensive items that more than pay for themselves.
1. Food Coloring
I am addicted to food coloring. It’s just such an easy way to make simple foods more interesting. Just last Saturday, we decided to make blue pancakes for breakfast. My son loves adding the color and seeing how it changes when you add a little or a lot. Most of time it’s more a lot than a little. I always try to keep all the basic colors on hand.
2. Popsicle Molds
This is a big staple in my house during the warmer weather. This is a great way to make sweet healthy treats. My son and I had a great time experimenting with different fruits and yogurts…and when he wasn’t aware, vegetables. I would strongly recommend the silicone ones, they’re a little easier to work with.
3. Sprinkles
I’m not saying go crazy with the sugar, but everything is a little bit better with sprinkles. Add some sprinkles while you’re baking, and give anything a funfetti pattern.
4. Mini Waffle Maker
This is great if you have smaller children, who aren’t going to finish a whole one. Sometimes I use the mini waffle maker to make two or three batches to freeze, so I have quick and easy breakfasts on hand.
These are four inexpensive items that I have found very helpful to have. I hope this has helped inspire you to get a little more creative in the kitchen.

Great list! I attempted blue pancakes in my 20s (never too old for play!) and they were awful. My son is (naturally) a big fan of sprinkles!
